The Queen of the hills has been the hot favorite destination of both domestic and international tourists. The destination has managed to live up to its tag and is now more of a brand that signifies a naturally abundant paradise. The town has so much to offer to its visitors from old colonial structures and old heritage schools. You can walk the foggy disappearing roads around Chowrasta or just sip in the aromatic Darjeeling Tea, doing nothing but just breathing. The town is mostly crowded with tourist who visits it throughout irrespective of the favorable seasons.

How to reach?

To reach Darjeeling you must first take a train or a flight till Siliguri which is the ultimate gateway to Darjeeling. The Airport is in Bagdogra and is well connected to major Airports within India. From here it will be a 3 hour drive till Darjeeling.

If you choose the train, the station you need to reach is New Jalpaiguri station which is well connected to trains from all four zones. From here, you could reserve or take a shared taxi to reach Darjeeling, which should take you almost 3 hours.

Tiger Hill

It is a wonderful viewpoint that has to be part of the travelers plan when they are on a trip to Darjeeling. It is the second highest hill of Darjeeling and also serves as an uphill trekking adventure location. The views from here are outstanding and beautifully breathtaking. The most amazing attractive thing from here is the sunrise that one can see from here. The attractive sun rays and the changing shades of orange really makes it a must visit.

Rock Garden

From the main town the rock cut garden is approximately 10 km downhill and can be reached in about half an hour if you hire a rental. It is a beautiful garden which has waterfalls that flow through it creating a beautiful mix of natural and manmade wonder. The place is scenic and a hotspot for family and picnic tours within Darjeeling. The colorful flowers decorate the garden pretty well and add more charm to it.

Peace Pagoda

It's a white Buddhist tomb that was constructed to promote world peace and harmony among various creeds and races. It’s a Buddhist temple which was constructed by a Japanese Monk while he had come to Darjeeling for a visit. It is situated between the green trees that surround the hill. There is a statue of Buddha and also serves as a religious destination. There is also a prayer hall that holds prayer everyday towards world peace and harmony.

Singalila National Park

The National park has really grown into an adventure hub and a great place for photography. The Singalila Ridge has different heights ranging between 8000 feet to 12000 feet. The park is part of the popular Sandakphu trekking which brings global tourist here. There is a variety of Flora and Fauna here along with fern, silver, fir, oak and bamboo trees. The flowers here include a variety of them like Rhododendrons, primula and some beautiful orchids. is a statue of Buddha and also serves as a religious destination. There is also a prayer hall that holds prayer everyday towards world peace and harmony.

Ghoom Station

The Ghoom station is one of the highest altitude railway stations in the whole world. There is also a DHR Museum that displays the most iconic items related to its history and culture. The narrow gauge is connected until New Jalpaiguri but they train often travels till the plains due to problematic road conditions. You will also find the display of a vintage engine which is displayed right next to the station. Everything here is very picturesque and the station is mostly covered in white fog.

Himalayan Mountaineering Institute

The institute was founded in 1954 as an appreciation from the Indian Government after the historic scaling of Mt Everest by Tenzing Norgay. It is a wonderful institute that trains young enthusiast with advanced mountaineering skills. It is visited by many tourists each day and is a Mecca for the Mountaineers. It also has few historic artifacts that have been preserved here and it also houses a telescope presented to the Nepal king by Adolf Hitler.
