How to reach?

Sikkim has recently acquired its domestic airport at Pakyong which currently connects Sikkim to Guwahati and Kolkata through regular flights. So, reaching Sikkim has become convenient but if you are coming from some other city, you could book your flight till Bagdogra which is 124 km away from Sikkim and take a cab which should reach you in about 4 hours. The nearest railway station would be New Jalpaiguri, in Siliguri which also takes about 4 hours to reach Sikkim in a cab.

Rumtek Monastery

It is situated near the capital, Gangtok and is also a Dharma Chakra Center and is also an institute that conserves the Karma Kagyu lineage school of Tibetan Buddhism. It showcases great piece of Buddhist architecture and art. It is also a spiritual destination and also serves as a pilgrimage destination.

Namchi

The name when translated in local language means ‘Top of the Sky’. The small hill district of Sikkim is quite popular among the other towns of Sikkim. There are plenty of beautiful reasons that make Namchi no less than a place from your dreams. There are important religious sites like Namchi Monastery, 108 ft Shiva Statue and Ralong Monasteries which makes Namchi a great pilgrimage site.

Do-Drul Chorten

It is one of the largest Stupa of Sikkim and was built in 1945 under the presence of Truslshi Rimpoche. The place serves as a prominent religious site and has around 108 prayer wheels around them. It is of great value to Buddhists here and the Stupa’s are filled in religious books and precious religious objects. It is a great place to find your peace of mind and to replenish your soul.

Zuluk

It is one of the most beautiful roads at a towering height of about 10,000 ft and is one of the latest additions in the offbeat destinations within Sikkim. The roads are part of the old ‘Silk Route’ and are not known to all. The town has snake like curled roads which looks very beautiful, any day of the year. The village also provides excellent view of the Kanchenjunga. Zuluk has around 32 hair-pin bends which makes it no less than an adventure.

Jawaharlal Nehru Botanical Garden

It is a wonderful place to spend some peaceful time in the green surroundings of this lush green botanical garden which houses several rare and exotic species of plants and trees. The garden holds great treasure within and is rich in some plants which are of great medicinal values. You will also find few orchids which are strictly found in this region only.

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology

Namgyal Institute of Tibetology, Established in 1958 is an ideal centre to learn about Buddhist cultures and traditions. It is also a reservoir of Tibetan culture and heritage and is also home to several Tibetan preachers outside Tibet. The institute preserves the rich culture of Tibetans and is also home to many important relics from 11th and 12th century collected globally.
